NOLAS began as a chance brainstorm of Denise Riley and Kelly Rapp, two savvy business women whose differences seemed to fit together like yin and yang - It's the collision of two go-getters. In August 2002, they opened NOLAS (which is salon spelled backwards). Denise who worked as a nail technician and owned her own salon in the Detroit area before moving to Akron, says, "I treat our salon's reception area like it's my living room, I want our clients to feel as welcome here as if they were a guest in my home". The salon decor, which features warm colors, comfortable chairs, candles and seasonal floral arrangements, was also designed to reflect that warm welcoming feeling. And while atmosphere is important, keeping up with trends and styles is top priority. Kelly Rapp is a third generation hair stylist, she is known for her great cuts and expertise in hair coloring and highlights.
